Earthquake Hits Delhi: Causes panic but no damage..!

Residents of Delhi and the surrounding NCR region woke up to strong tremors early this morning as an earthquake shook the city. The earthquake, which struck at approximately 5:36 AM, caused panic among people, with many rushing out of their homes and high-rise buildings.

According to preliminary reports, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.0 and originated at a shallow depth of five kilometres beneath the surface. The tremors were felt across multiple areas, including Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad. While no casualties or major damage have been reported so far, minor structural cracks were observed in some older buildings.

Eyewitnesses described the experience as alarming, with furniture shaking and ceiling fans swaying. Many took to social media to share their experiences, calling it one of the strongest tremors they had felt in recent months. Some videos captured people running out of their homes in fear, particularly in densely populated areas.

Authorities responded swiftly, assuring citizens that there was no immediate danger but advising them to remain cautious. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority issued guidelines on safety measures in case of aftershocks, urging people to avoid elevators and seek shelter under sturdy furniture if indoors. Emergency helplines have been activated for those needing assistance.

Experts have pointed out that Delhi lies in Seismic Zone IV, making it prone to earthquakes. The region has witnessed frequent tremors in recent years due to tectonic activity along the Himalayan fault lines. While today’s earthquake was relatively mild, seismologists continue to monitor the situation for potential aftershocks.

Residents are advised to stay alert, follow safety protocols, and keep emergency kits ready. Authorities continue to assess the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
