Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar Expresses Willingness to Resign for Constituency Engagement

In a recent gathering at ‘Rajeev Bhavan’ in Koratagere, Karnataka’s Home Minister, Dr. G. Parameshwar, expressed his willingness to resign from his ministerial position to dedicate more time to his party workers. Addressing party workers, he lamented the reduced interaction with his supporters since assuming ministerial duties, stating that his current responsibilities have limited his availability for grassroots engagement.
reminisced about his earlier tenure as an MLA, highlighting his frequent visits to panchayat offices and personal interactions with local residents. He acknowledged the challenges of balancing ministerial obligations with constituency needs and conveyed his readiness to step down if it would benefit his supporters. In response, the attendees urged him to continue in his ministerial role, with some even suggesting aspirations for him to become Chief Minister.

This isn’t the first instance of Dr. Parameshwar contemplating resignation for the greater good. In June 2017, he resigned as Home Minister to focus on his responsibilities as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections. Later, in May 2018, upon being appointed as Deputy Chief Minister in the JD(S)-Congress coalition government, he stepped down from the KPCC presidency to concentrate on governmental affairs.
Dr. Parameshwar’s commitment to his constituents and the party has been evident throughout his political career. His recent remarks underscore the ongoing challenges political leaders face in balancing administrative duties with grassroots connections.
