Mayawati Expels Nephew Akash Anand from BSP Amid Internal Disputes

Lucknow: In a significant political development, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has expelled her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party. This decision comes a day after he was relieved of all key positions within the BSP.
Mayawati cited Anand’s continued influence under his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, as a primary reason for his removal. She expressed that Anand’s recent actions and responses lacked the remorse and political maturity expected from a senior party member. In a statement, she remarked that Anand’s behavior appeared “selfish and arrogant,” leading to his expulsion in the interest of the party and its movement.

Akash Anand had been considered a potential successor to Mayawati, especially after his active involvement in the party since 2017. However, internal disagreements and his perceived challenges to the party’s traditional functioning have led to this decisive action.
This expulsion marks a pivotal moment in the BSP’s internal dynamics, reflecting ongoing power struggles and the challenges of leadership succession within the party.
