SpaceX Starship Explosion Showers Debris Over Bahamas

SpaceX’s eighth Starship test flight ended in failure as the spacecraft lost control and exploded shortly after liftoff. This marks the second consecutive flight failure following a similar incident in January. The explosion was witnessed from Florida to the Bahamas, with debris seen streaking across the sky.

The detonation sent chunks of debris raining down over the area, creating a dazzling artificial meteor shower for people in The Bahamas and Florida’s Space Coast, among other locales.

Despite the latest setback, SpaceX had successfully recovered the first-stage booster. The FAA has grounded future Starship launches pending a safety review.

SpaceX will analyze the data from the flight to improve the reliability of future Starship missions. The company aims to make Starship fully reusable to reduce costs and facilitate travel to the Moon and Mars.
